This morning, Salt Lake City Corporation was made aware of a scam involving fraudulent text messages claiming to be from Salt Lake City’s parking services provider. These messages are asking for payment of an “unpaid parking invoice.”
The public should be advised that these messages are not legitimate and lead to an unauthorized website that is a payment site unaffiliated with Salt Lake City or our service provider.

People should not:
- Click on the link
- Provide any payment information
- Reply to the text message
“Salt Lake City is currently working with legal entities to address the matter. We do not believe internal City systems have been compromised; the scam appears to be similar to another one cities around the country have recently encountered,” said Aaron Bentley, Chief Information Officer, Salt Lake City.
People can verify any outstanding citations through the City’s payments portal by visiting https://www.slc.gov/payments/ and selecting “Parking & Civil Citations.” By entering a ticket, license plate number, or pay plan, users can view all their citations, see related photographs, and either appeal or pay charges directly through the secure online system.
Please share this message with your contacts to help stop this fraudulent activity from spreading further into our community.
