4th East Garden

Built in the 1980’s, this garden may be the oldest existing community garden in Salt Lake City. The garden features 25 allotment plots, a rooftop rainwater harvesting system, beehives, chickens, and a plethora of flowers, herbs and vegetables, including tomatoes, corn, pumpkins, pears, apples, peaches, strawberries, and raspberries. The efforts of passionate community members, volunteers and hundreds of donors, large and small, saved this garden and allowed it to be purchased from the Community Development Corporation of Utah to preserve it as the precious spot of green in the middle of the city for residents to and benefit from. For more information visit the garden’s website.
