Redevelopment of the Fleet Block is underway following years of community discussion and planning. In 2023, the Council approved the Form-Based Mixed Use 11 (FB-MU11) zoning district for the 10-acre block between 300 and 400 West and 800 and 900 South. This zoning change allows for a mix of housing, commercial spaces, and community resources, focusing on creating an inclusive, walkable neighborhood.
The Council also set aside $600,000 from the Parks, Trails, & Open Space General Obligation (GO) Bond to plan a public green space on the southeast quadrant of the block. Future development will include a memorial space and public art, honoring the history of the site.
