Mayoral Proclamation Requests

The Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office issues proclamations to honor and commemorate special observances, highlight community achievements, and convey messages of significance to our City. Proclamation requests are reviewed on a case-by-case basis. The Mayor’s Office reserves the right to approve or decline any request for a proclamation and make edits to submitted drafts.

Proclamations will NOT be issued for:

  • Campaigns or events contrary to City policy or values
  • Political or commercial endorsement
  • Matters of religious nature, or of political controversy
  • Issues pertaining to legislative or ballot proceedings
  • Similar or duplicate requests
  • For-profit causes
  • Individuals with no direct relationship to the city
  • Political delegations

Submitting a Request

Requests must be submitted one month in advance of the proclamation date. If less than one months’ notice is given, the Mayor’s Office reserves the right to decline. (Note: If the proclamation is being requested in honor of a month-long observance, please submit your request one month in advance.)

Requests must be:
1) submitted via form here; or
2) submitted in writing to 451 South State Street (Room 306), P.O. Box 145474, Salt Lake City, UT 84114-5474.

Requestors are encouraged to submit a draft of the desired proclamation with the request. To see previously issued proclamations, visit https://www.slc.gov/equity/category/oei-proclamation/.

Fulfillment of a proclamation does NOT guarantee Mayor’s Office participation in any associated events. If you would like to request the Mayor’s presence for an event, please submit a separate request here.
