Apply for Funding Our Future Grant
The Salt Lake City Funding Our Future program is for our local non-profits. The program helps fund local housing service projects. We hope you will apply!
What You Need to Know
- Applications will open on September 22 and close on October 10.
- Only a 501(c)3 can apply.
- Funds both tenant-based and home ownership services for 12-month periods.
- Primarily for low- to moderate-income households.
Before You Start
Before you start, read the description of this program. Make sure you understand what this program can do for you.
Any non-profit that offers housing services may apply. Not all housing projects are eligible. If you apply, you should attend our application training. You should also the ‘Housing SLC’ plan and collect your required documents.
Am I Eligible?
- Application must fund client services.
- Project must serve residents of Salt Lake City.
- Project should primarily serve people with lower income.
- This program does not fund housing development.
Attend the Application Training
We host the training the week after opening the applications. Applicants can view a recording after the training.
What is the Housing SLC Plan?
The ‘Housing SLC’ plan is our city housing plan from 2023-2027. All housing-related work done by the City should meet the goals of this plan. Your application should align with these goals.
Collect Your Required Documents
You will need to submit certain required documents with your application. These documents include:
- Proof of your 501(c)3 status
- Any negotiated indirect cost rate agreements
- Your current general liability and worker’s compensation insurance
- Your most recent financial audit
We may request other documents during the application process.
Steps
- Submit Your Online Application.
You will submit your Funding Our Future application online. We accept applications with the Neighborly grants management software. - We Accept Your Application.
Our office staff review your application first to check you qualify. We will notify you if your application is rejected. We also provide an administrative score for your application. We base our score on your response to several risk assessment questions. - The Board Reviews Your Application.
The Community Development and Capital Investment Planning board then review your application. They score your application based on the project merit. They base their scores on your responses to all application questions. This scoring takes place during the late Fall and Winter. - The City Makes a Funding Decision.
The Board recommends application awards to the Mayor. Then the Mayor recommends application awards to City Council. Finally, City Council makes the application award decisions. Applicants may attend the City Council funding meeting. This process takes place during the late Winter and Spring. - We Write Your Contract.
We will notify you on your application status. If your application was approved, we will write your contract with Salt Lake City. This occurs during late Spring and early Summer. Once we complete your contract, you may begin spending award funds.
What’s Next
If your application is not eligible, we will notify you within 60 days after applications close. Our full application review may take us up to 9 months to complete. Please plan for this wait time in your application timeline. We may contact you if we have questions about your application.
We will notify you if your application is approved or rejected. If your application is approved, we will write your contract. Your contract will begin in June and last for 12 months. We will have a training for everyone who received an award.
