We are pleased to announce that the 50/50 program is now accepting applications for the season. Spots will only be reserved once payment is received. We have limited seasonal availability, the work is weather-dependent, and there will be a waiting period before work begins.
Sidewalk repairs
Who’s responsible for sidewalk repairs?
If you own property next to a sidewalk, driveway approach, or curb and gutter, you’re responsible for keeping them in good shape—even though they’re in the public right-of-way (City Ordinance 14.32.305). You can hire your own contractor to make repairs, but you’ll need a permit to do the work.
For more information about permits, contact the Engineering Division at 801-535-6203 or email [email protected].
Help with repair costs (50/50 Program)
If you own a single-family home, you may qualify for Salt Lake City’s 50/50 Concrete Program. This program splits the cost of repairs between you and the City. If you own a commercial property, you must pay the full cost up front before the work can be scheduled.
The City does have limited funding for sidewalk repairs in emergencies, on City property, for special projects, or when a City-owned tree has caused damage.
What repairs are included in the 50/50 Program?
- Sidewalk
- Driveway approach
- Curb and gutter repair or replacement
