Hear directly from Administrative Services team members Ciara Jackson and Holly Draney as they share what they do and what it’s like to work for the City:

Holly Draney, Financial Analyst:

  • Holly, who has worked for the City for 11.5 years, helps multiple divisions and “some of my job responsibilities include analysis of budgets, managing complex spending plans for both capital and operating expenses and revenues.”
  • A typical day is “responding to emails, (Microsoft) Teams chats and answering phone calls.” Holly also does many of her tasks using the City’s information management system Workday, by “extracting data from Workday into Excel and then compiling the data to readable comprehensive information, updating budget planners with actuals and expenses, and sorting through encumbrances to identify supplier/customer information, contract information and determine if the budget is obligated or non-obligated.”
  • Holly is excited to come to work because of the “variety of tasks I get to work on and the opportunity to learn new things. Knowing that I have a sense of purpose in the work I do.”
  • Holly enjoys working in local government because “there is opportunity for growth, and it is a stable and secure environment. I also like that the work is related to building and improving the communities of Salt Lake City.”
  • Holly recommends working for the City because “the benefits package that is offered is excellent, not many other employers could match it. The culture — not feeling like a number but rather feeling like I am recognized as an employee and treated with respect and valued.”

Ciara Jackson, Safety Coordinator:

In this division, you’ll help make Salt Lake City safer and easier to get around by enforcing City rules—like parking regulations—and providing services such as school crossing guards and impound operations.
