To properly dispose of Christmas trees, first make sure you’ve removed all ornaments and lights. From there, you’ve got two options.

Option No. 1 (preferred): Cut tree into 4-foot pieces or smaller. Put pieces in your brown compost can and we’ll pick it up on your regular, weekly collection day. Do this before the winter compost suspension, which begins in mid-January . Please, do not to overfill the brown can! We can’t collect uncut trees sticking way out of the top.
Option No. 2: If you don’t have the tools to cut your tree into pieces, the city will collect trees left at the curb starting in late December through mid January. Exact pickup days will depend on demand.
Finally, flocked trees (painted with fake snow) are not accepted on the curb or in the brown can. To properly dispose, cut flocked trees up and place pieces in your garbage can.
