The 300 West Bikeway is now complete. Thank you for your patience during construction. We hope you enjoy the new bikeway!
Overview
Salt Lake City has constructed a protected two-way bikeway on 300 West between 900 South and 400 South to enhance safety, comfort, and connectivity for all road users. The bikeway connects with other bike routes, linking the 300 West and 9-Line shared-use paths to the 400 South Viaduct Trail and protected bike lanes on 300 South. The bikeway was built within the existing roadway, without reconstructing curbs or sidewalks.

Project scope change
The 300 West Bikeway was originally planned to go from 900 South to 300 South. However, the section between 300 South and 400 South is owned by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). At UDOT’s request, this section of the bikeway was removed from the project.
Public engagement summary
Public involvement began during the design phase in spring 2024. In June 2024, the project team canvassed businesses and property owners along the corridor to introduce the project, answer questions, and collect contact information. A business and property owner availability meeting was held in September 2024 to review the design and discuss potential construction impacts.
Throughout late 2024 and 2025, the team attended four community meetings to share updates and answer questions:
- Combined Ballpark and Central 9th Community Council (November 2024)
- Poplar Grove Community Council (January 2025)
- Granary District Alliance (May 2025)
- Liberty Wells Community Council (October 2025)
In addition, a community group meeting was held in October 2024 with organizations including the Downtown Alliance, Sweet Streets, Bike Utah, the Bike Collective, Volunteers of America, Granary District Alliance, Central 9th Community Council, and Ballpark Community Council.
Seven project newsletters were sent to a stakeholder list of approximately 280 people, providing updates on design completion, construction schedules, traffic impacts, and project milestones. The team also shared updates on social media and maintained a project hotline, email inbox, and website to respond to questions.
Construction outreach intensified in May 2025 with a second round of canvassing to notify stakeholders of upcoming work. The project team held multiple coordination meetings and phone calls with corridor businesses to address access, parking, deliveries, and traffic concerns.
Businesses that received direct coordination included Roots Coffee, Ruby Snap Cookies, Fisher Brewing Co., Picture Line, Enterprise, Western Nut Company, Zion Printing, Service Press Inc., Elevation Inc., and others. In several cases, construction schedules were adjusted, driveways were completed in phases, or follow-up reviews were conducted to respond to business concerns about parking, ADA access, striping, and traffic operations.
The project team documented stakeholder interactions throughout design and construction and worked closely with City engineering and traffic staff to review and respond to issues as they arose.
