Overview
During Summer 2025, Salt Lake City will construct traffic safety improvements on four minor intersections along Foothill Drive.
The traffic safety improvements are being implemented through a Constituent Capital Improvement Program application that was awarded funding by the City Council in 2023.
Design Concepts
Westminster Avenue
The curb will be extended on the south side of the Westminster Avenue intersection to square up the corner with Foothill Drive. This change encourages:
- Slower turns coming from Foothill Drive onto Westminster Avenue.
- Improved visibility of oncoming traffic for drivers exiting Westminster Avenue onto Foothill Drive.
- A safer crossing distance for people crossing the street.
Laurelhurst Drive
The curb will extended on the north corner of the intersection of Laurelhurst Drive to square up access off of Foothill Drive. This change encourages:
- Slower turns from Foothill Drive onto Laurelhurst Drive.
- A safer crossing distance for people crossing the street.
2600 East
The curb will be extended on the north corner of the intersection with 2600 East to square up access off of Foothill Drive. This change encourages:
- Slower turns from Foothill Drive onto 2600 East.
- A safer crossing distance for people crossing the street.
2500 East and Blaine Avenue
2500 East at the intersection of Blaine Avenue will be receiving speed cushions and a marked crosswalk.
The speed cushions will help to slow speeding vehicles coming from Foothill Drive while allowing emergency vehicles access to the area with minimal slowing.
