June construction update
In June, Salt Lake City began constructing protected bicycle lanes on the west side of 300 West from 400 South to 900 South. Construction will begin at 300 South and move toward 900 South with completion anticipated Fall 2025. During construction, expect:
- Intermittent closures of the outside most southbound lane between 900 South and 400 South.
- On-street parking may be unavailable in areas where crews are actively working.
- Noise, dust, and vibration may be experienced in areas where crews are actively working.
Construction is material and weather dependent and subject to change.
Overview
Salt Lake City is designing a protected bikeway on 300 West between 900 South and 400 South to enhance safety, comfort, and connectivity for all road users. The bikeway will integrate with existing and future bike infrastructure, linking the 300 West and 9-Line shared-use paths to the upcoming 400 South Viaduct Trail and protected bike lanes on 300 South. Rather than reconstructing the roadway, curbs, or sidewalks, the bikeway will be designed within the existing footprint of the roadway.
Project Scope Change
The 300 West Bikeway was originally planned to go from 900 South to 300 South. However, the section between 300 South and 400 South is owned by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT). At UDOT’s request, this section of the bikeway was removed from the project.
