Salt Lake City Mayor’s Office and YouthCity Summer Internship 2022

YouthCity coordinates experiential learning opportunities for high school students through paid, hands-on internships. Youth & Family, the Mayor’s Office and Salt Lake City Corporation provide opportunities for youth to participate with city staff to gain essential workforce experience and 21st century learning skills.

Who We’re Looking For:

To apply, youth must be:

  • 16-18 years old
  • Must be attending a secondary school within the Salt Lake School District
  • Willing to work hard and challenge themselves
  • Able to commit to the entire 8-week program
  • Bring a positive, respectful and helpful attitude
  • Participate in program workshops and other activities
  • Communicate openly and honestly with supervisors, staff, and peers
  • Verify citizenship or eligibility to work in the United States

Work Schedule:

  • Monday through Thursday, 9am-1pm & Friday 9am-noon
  • Because the program is only 8 weeks long, 38 days in total, applicants must be able to commit to the entire program. Only 2 excused absences are permitted
  • Farmer’s Market is Friday 9am-noon & every Saturday from 6am-4pm

Internships are available in the following areas:

  • Mayor’s Office
  • City Council Office
  • Salt Lake City Airport
  • Compliance
  • 911 Dispatch (must be 18 and pass a background check)
  • Fire Department (must be 18 and pass a background check)
  • Public Services
  • YouthCity Sites
  • Salt Lake City’s Downtown Farmer’s Market (June 13-October 17)
