Integrated Public Alert & Warning System (IPAWS)
The Integrated Public Alert and Warning System (IPAWS) is a nationwide system that sends emergency alerts to keep people informed and safe. It ensures that messages about threats, like severe weather or disasters, reach everyone. For people with disabilities, IPAWS delivers alerts in different ways, such as text, audio, and visual messages. This includes options like screen readers, vibrating pagers, or flashing lights for those who need them. The system ensures that all individuals, no matter their abilities, get critical emergency information.

Rocky Mountain Power
Sign up for alerts in the event of an outage. Use their mobile app to track outages and update contact information. Review your contact information to make sure it’s up to date so they can reach you. Text OUT to 759677 to report your outage or text STAT to check status. If you or someone in your home has electricity-dependent medical needs, call Rocky Mountain Power at 1-888-221-7070 to let them know. Also, talk to your health care provider about what you may need to do to keep your medical devices working during a power outage.
SLC Fire Department’s Wildland Preparedness
The Salt Lake City Fire Department’s Wildland Fire website provides helpful information about wildfires and safety. It offers updates on current fire risks and ways to stay safe if you live near areas prone to wildfires. For people with disabilities, this site can be useful for learning about emergency plans, evacuation routes, and preparedness tips in case of a wildfire.

- Download apps such as FEMA, Red Cross, and Rocky Mountain Power to get more information when cell service is available.
- Cell towers for internet services may not be available at the time of an emergency.
