Ballpark NEXT Design Competition Recap
The Ballpark NEXT Design Competition was created to be an opportunity for residents, post-secondary students, and development professionals to think big and tell us what they envision for the future of Smith’s Ballpark site. The Competition took place from January through May, 2023 and received 123 applications total including 92 residents, 14 post-secondary students, and 17 development professional applications. The winner selection process is highlighted below, including a community-based selection committee, a finalist public vote to determine the winners, and community celebration.
Although the winning Design Competition concepts will not be built specifically, their ideas, like those collected from all the competition applicants were incorporated into the Community Visioning Process.

Winners & Themes Celebration Event
Roughly 150 people participated in the May 31st Winners & Themes Celebration Event at the Urban Indian Center to learn about the upcoming Community Visioning Process, provide feedback on what Ballpark NEXT themes resonated with them, and to celebrate the competition winners.
