Through the efforts of the Avenues Community Council and Wasatch Community Gardens, Popperton Plots was born in 2013 after Salt Lake City announced it had set aside space in several parks for community garden use. The committee of growers was formed under the guidance of the Wasatch Community Gardens, including valuable training, supplier relationships and grant funds from the city, Slow Food Hands and other similar partnerships. Popperton Plots has many years of growing accomplished for the community, with close to 40 plots, including four raised-bed ADA-accessible plots, and there’s still room to expand the gardens as a whole!
