What Can Be Recycled?

Hey, District Six!

Quick recycling reminder: Recycling benefits our environment, but only if we do it right.

The following materials CAN be recycled in a blue bin:

♻️ Newspaper and newspaper inserts

♻️ Cardboard boxes, shoe boxes, cereal boxes, paper tubes

♻️ Magazines and phone books

♻️ Aluminum cans

♻️ Steel (tin) food cans

♻️ Clean plastic containers (like milk jugs, plastic bottles and cups, yogurt containers, etc.)

♻️ Junk mail, office paper, envelopes

♻️ Aerosol cans – please make sure they are drained by turning them upside down and releasing the pressure.

Everything else, including glass*, food wrappings, napkins, electronics, yard waste, clothing, toys, and plastic bags CANNOT be recycled. For more information, please visit tinyurl.com/RecyclingPractices.

*Glass is non-recyclable in your blue bins; however, the city does offer glass recycling through Momentum Recycling. Residents can recycle glass by opting into voluntary curbside pickup OR visiting a nearby glass drop-off location.
