Pedestrian Safety

Whether you’re walking to work, school, or just enjoying a stroll around the neighborhood, it’s essential to prioritize safety as a pedestrian. Here are some tips to help you stay safe and avoid accidents:

  1. Use crosswalks: Always cross the street at designated crosswalks and intersections. It may take a little longer, but it’s much safer than jaywalking.
  2. Look both ways: Before crossing the street, look left, right, and left again to ensure no vehicles are approaching.
  3. Be visible: Wear bright or reflective clothing, especially when walking at night or in low-light conditions. This helps drivers see you more easily.
  4. Avoid distractions: Put away your phone and remove headphones while walking to stay alert and aware of your surroundings.
  5. Follow traffic signals: Obey traffic signals and pedestrian crossing signs. Wait for the “walk” signal before crossing the street.
  6. Stay on sidewalks: Whenever possible, walk on sidewalks or paths designated for pedestrians.
  7. Be cautious at intersections: Even when you have the right of way, be cautious and make eye contact with drivers before crossing.

Remember, pedestrian safety is everyone’s responsibility. Let’s work together to ensure our streets are safe for everyone!
