Private vs Public Lights

Hello District Six!

Not all streetlights are the same!

Knowing some of the differences between privately-owned and city-owned streetlights to can help you avoid prohibited modifications, damage, or misuse.

Private Street Lights:

  • Property owners have the liberty to decorate or modify these as desired.
  • Maintenance responsibilities fall on the property owners.

 City-owned Street Lights:

  • Modifications to these lights are strictly prohibited.
  • Electricity from these lights must not be used for any purpose, including holiday decorations.
  • Non-electric adornments like ribbons or garlands are permitted.
