WHEREAS, the City of Salt Lake is honored to have the presence of the United States Navy in our community; and

WHEREAS, the State of Utah is home for more than 1,946 Navy active-duty Sailors; 360 Navy Reserve Sailors and 2,222 Navy retirees; and

WHEREAS, The United States Navy is instrumental in ensuring the safety and security of $14.4 billion in annual exports from the State of Utah; and

WHEREAS, the citizens of Salt Lake and the State of Utah take great pride in supporting our namesake vessels USS Salt Lake City (SSN 716) and PCU Utah (SSN 801); and

WHEREAS, Salt Lake City Navy Week hosts special events and programs for the state to increase the community’s knowledge and understanding of their Navy and its global mission; and

WHEREAS, Salt Lake City Navy week includes publicly-available events both in-person and on social media; and

NOW, THEREFORE, I, Erin Mendenhall, Mayor of Salt Lake City, proclaim September 11, 2023 – September 17, 2023, as:
