Xris Macias is the Language Access Coordinator for the Salt Lake City Mayors’ Office of Equity and Inclusion. Xris was raised in Utah and has lived in various cities throughout the Salt Lake Valley. Xris is focused on creating a culture of creativity and interconnectedness to access, equity, diversity, inclusion, and engagement, to communities from underrepresented and unrecognized backgrounds. He has a master’s degree in Education from the University of Utah, where his research includes validating non-traditional forms of education outside the classroom. His emphasis was on Lowriders as educational tools. He enjoys playing musical instruments, riding his bike, training Capoeira, and doing all of that with his two sons. He is fluent in English and Spanish and conversational in Portuguese.
