What can I recycle in SLC?

If you purchase Salt Lake City’s monthly curbside service you can recycle clean paper, plastic containers, metal and aluminum cans and cardboard.

What can I recycle through curbside services?

Bulk waste is collected through the city’s Call 2 Haul program, but only if you’ve purchased the curbside services subscription.

If you don’t subscribe to curbside services, there are still many ways to reduce, reuse, and recycle materials.

General recycling

Recycle plastic bags

Don’t put plastic bags in your blue cart! Most local grocery stores will accept them.
Recycle glass

There’s two options for recycling glass in Salt Lake City.
Recycle common household items

Recycle plastic, metal and aluminum cans, cardboard and glass at the Salt Lake County Landfill.
Recycle food waste

Drop off 15 lbs or less of food waste for free at Wasatch Resource Recovery.

Dropoff recycling

Recycle tires

If you don’t have Call 2 Haul, you can drop off tires at this North Beck street Liberty Tire location.
Recycle mattresses

Spring Back Utah offers free drop off or will pick up your mattress for a $50 fee.
Recycle, reuse bikes

The Bike Collective refurbishes bikes and donates them to people in need. You can drop off bikes, bike parts and biking equipment.
Recycle food waste

Drop off 15 lbs or less of food waste for free at Wasatch Resource Recovery.

Household hazardous waste recycling

Recycle household hazardous waste – West Salt Lake City

Dispose of paint, batteries, cooking oil, e-waste like TVs, computer and cell phones and many other things.
