Aug. 22 eWaste and Household Hazardous Waste recycling event – Streets Division parking lot

Give your hard-to-recycle electronic items and household hazardous waste a chance to be recycled properly! Please join us for our recycling event on Saturday July 11th at the the Salt Lake City Streets Division parking lot from 9 am to 12 pm.

Dropoff is free, open to all residents (no commercial customers please). This event will be operated the Waste & Recycling division and Veolia Environmental Services. Please bring items listed below and we’ll dispose of them sustainably.

Accepted eWaste (Drop off)

  • Computers (desktops, laptops, servers, mainframes, ITAD equipment)  
  • Hard drives & SSDs (data destruction available)  
  • Networking equipment (routers, Switches, Modems, Telecom Equipment)  
  • Monitors (LCD, LED, CRT – restrictions may apply)  
  • Peripherals (keyboards, mice, etc.)  
  • Office electronics (printers, scanners, copiers, fax machines, laser  
  • Scanners, calculators, telephones, multi-function devices) 
  • Televisions (LCD, LED, projection; plasma models may have restrictions)  
  • Cable boxes & satellite receivers – DVD Players, VCRs, CD Players  
  • Audio/visual equipment (Speakers, Stereos, Projectors)  
  • Gaming/video game consoles and Accessories  
  • Digital cameras & camcorders – electric fans, vacuum cleaners, stereo equipment  
  • Small eitchen appliances (mixers, toasters, etc.)  
  • Mobile devices (tablets, smartphones; batteries removed where applicable) 
  • Lithium-ion batteries (EV, UPS, industrial)  
  • Lead-acid batteries (sealed & flooded)  
  • NiCd & NiMH batteries  
  • Alkaline batteries (bulk quantities preferred)

  • LCD, OLED, LED, plasma televisions and monitors 
  • Robotics and automated equipment  
  • PLCs, motor drives, control boards  
  • Test and measurement equipment

  • Medical electronics (non-biohazardous)  
  • Electric behicle (EV) chargers and components  
  • Scrap circuit boards (precious metal recovery available)

  • Non-electronic waste (items lacking both a circuit board and a power cord)   
  • Trash/food waste/garbage/green waste 

Accepted Household Hazardous Waste (HHW)

  • Latex paint
  • Used oil 
  • Antifreeze
  • Household cleaners and/or aerosols 
  • Pesticides and herbicides and yard care chemicals  
  • Batteries, including imbedded lithium ion batteries in fast tech like vapes

Not Accepted HHW

  • Radioactive items
  • Needles or sharps  
  • Tires
  • Ammunition
  • Smoke detectors
  • Prescription pain killers
  • Fireworks
