A Letter from the Director

February 21, 2024

Dear YouthCity Families,

As you may be aware, the Salt Lake City School District has decided to realign elementary school boundaries and close four elementary schools at the end of the 2023-2024 school year. In response to this decision, we have reviewed the current schools each YouthCity elementary program supports and have made a few changes to meet the growing needs of our community for the upcoming school year. As you continue to make key decisions for your children for the 2024-25 school year, we are sharing the information below.

  • All YouthCity programs will continue to pick-up kids from the current schools for the remainder of the 2023-24 school year.
  • Children living in Salt Lake City may select to attend any YouthCity locations during the summer. As in the past, parents are responsible to drop-off and pick-up their children throughout the summer program.
  • Summer 2024 registration packets will be available March 18, 2024.
  • The 2024-25 Afterschool Program Registration packets will be available on our website the first week of July. Parents should submit the completed packet to the site they want their children to attend. As in the past, registration priority is always given to currently enrolled youth.
  • Upon receiving the 2024-25 Afterschool Program Registration packets YouthCity Community Program Mangers will confirm your child’s spot.
  • For the 2024-25 school year, YouthCity will provide transportation from school to YouthCity locations based on the table on below.

We understand that there are questions regarding our Summer Program site assignments. YouthCity Summer 2024 Program site assignments will reflect your child’s current school registration. Please reach out to your site’s Senior Community Program Manager for further information.

Warm regards,
Kim Thomas
Director, Youth and Family Division
