Salt Lake Arts Council Foundation enters into agreement with private sector to produce 2018 Twilight Concert Series

The Salt Lake Arts Council Foundation has entered into a one (1) year agreement with Broadway Media. This alliance gives the Arts Council Foundation the ability to put on the Twilight Concert Series in 2018, highlighting Broadway Media’s expertise in concert production and promotion.

Residents and visitors will continue to enjoy the premiere concert series in downtown Salt Lake City at a price-point unmatched by other major, established concert series in the City.

“Twilight is one of the most beloved public arts programs in the City, and I am so happy we were able to find a way to bring it back for 2018,” says Mayor Jacki Biskupski. “This partnership allows the music to go on while we continue to explore ways to strengthen the concert series for future years.”

Broadway Media’s position in the entertainment industry and broad experience in presenting concerts allow them to work with the Arts Council Foundation in creating a lineup worthy of the Twilight name, thus making 2018 a reality again for the Twilight Concert Series.

“First and foremost, we are big fans of the Twilight Concert Series,” says Kayvon Motiee, president of Broadway Media. “We were saddened to see it was going away and immediately reached out to see if there was anything we could do to preserve it. We are thrilled that we were able to come to an agreement with the Salt Lake Arts Council, the City, and the Gallivan Center to continue with this cherished concert series.”

Here’s what concert-goers can expect for the 2018 Twilight Concert Series:

  • Location: Returning back to the Gallivan Center
  • Dates: Thursday evening in August, 2018 (possible September concerts TBD)
  • Pricing: $10 tickets
  • Attendance: 7,000 weekly average
  • Artists: Selection committee will include representatives from the Arts Council Foundation.
    • Shows curated with similar qualities as previous Twilight Concerts.
    • Concerts will consist of one national act and at least one local act.

” The Council is happy to see the concerts continue at a Salt Lake City venue and that no new investment from the City is needed in this partnership, ” said Erin Mendenhall, Council Chair.

“I’m so glad that we were able to find a way to keep Twilight going for 2018. Special thanks to Ben Kolander & the Department of Economic Development for their creative work,” added Council Member Derek Kitchen who represents District 4, which includes the Gallivan Center.

Since its creation 30 years ago, the Twilight Concert Series brand has remained an Arts Council and Salt Lake City asset. Concert-goers have long appreciated the highly-curated series and can expect the upcoming 2018 Twilight Concert Series to appeal to and attract diverse audiences. This agreement with Broadway Media allows the Arts Council to maintain the mission and vision of Twilight, while utilizing private-sector industry experts to execute programming and production.

“The Arts Council is excited for the opportunity to continue the Twilight program for the 2018 season,” says Kerri Hopkins, Arts Council Foundation Board Chair. “We look forward to working with Broadway Media in curating the great downtown music experiences for which the Twilight Concert Series is known.”
