What Is an Expedited Permit Review?

Expedited Permit Review is a process used to accelerate the initial review of building plans. The review is performed by a qualified third party with significant experience conducting building plan reviews, as selected and approved by the building official.

The reviewer must provide initial comments, including required corrections, within ten (10) business days of the application date.

Only the initial review is expedited. Any additional reviews follow the standard review queue and are processed in the order received.

Cost

Expedited Permit Review fees are two (2) times the standard review fee as set forth in Section 18.32.035 of the Municipal Code.

The fee is due at the time of application.

How to Apply

  • Select “Yes” for Expedited Review during Step 3 of the application submission process through Citizen Access Portal
  • Complete and sign the Expedited Permit Request Form
  • Submit required documents electronically
  • Pay the expedited review fee
  • Expedited review service is not accepted the balance has been paid

Eligibility and Process

  1. Submitted documents must meet minimum requirements in Section 18.32.035 of the Municipal Code.
  2. The expedited review is conducted by an approved third-party reviewer.
  3. Initial review comments are provided within 10 business days.
  4. Only the first review is expedited; all subsequent reviews follow standard processing timelines.
  5. All documents must be submitted electronically.
  6. Fees are double the standard review fee.
