Rocky Mountain Power Headquarters Rezone

Rocky Mountain Power Headquarters Rezone

On Feb. 21, 2023, the Council voted to approve a request to rezone approximately 5.5 acres of property owned by Rocky Mountain Power near North Temple and the Jordan River. Rocky Mountain Power asked the Council to rezone portions of 1219 W, 1223 W, 1275, and 1407 West North Temple to a Transit Station Area, or TSA, zone (TSA-Urban Center-Core). The purpose of a TSA zone is to provide an area that is attractive to public transit, walkable and contains a mix of commercial and residential uses.

Rocky Mountain Power owns approximately 100 acres along North Temple and intends to redevelop those 100 acres to what is being referred to as “the Power District Campus.” As part of its first steps, Rocky Mountain Power asked the Council to rezone a section of the property so it can construct a new headquarters building for its operations.
