Located on the eastern edge of the University of Utah, Red Butte Gardens is home to over 100 acres of botanical gardens and hiking trails. Dr. Walter P. Cottam, co-founder of the Nature Conservancy, began using the land where Red Butte Gardens sits today for plant research in 1930. Since then, Red Butte Gardens has become an official arboretum of the State of Utah, a venue to the Red Butte Outdoor Concert Series, and a gathering place for all ages to enjoy the diverse plant life of Salt Lake City.
