Pickleball for all!
With the rise in popularity of pickleball, free, public courts are increasingly in demand. We can all learn how to participate in a respectful pickleball culture, so our shared courts remain inclusive spaces which are open to all! Here are a few tips for sharing the courts with other players.
- Read the Rules Sign: Before playing, familiarize yourself with the court’s rules and guidelines.
- Share the Courts: Exercise a willingness to share the court, especially when others are waiting, so new players can enjoy a game.
- Be Courteous: Treat players, spectators, and staff respectfully and avoid loud, aggressive, and disruptive behavior.
- Be a Team Player: Support fellow players by encouraging fair play and positive sportsmanship.
- Keep the Court Clean: Maintain a clean and safe environment by appropriately disposing of trash and removing belongings.
- Arrive Prepared and Warm Up Off the Court: Avoid unnecessary delays by entering the court ready to play. Conduct stretching and warm-up exercises outside the playing area.
DEMAND IS HIGH: UPDATES FOR 2024 AND BEYOND
With high demand for additional courts, Salt Lake City is committed to building more spaces for public play! In 2024, players can expect four more courts with new construction at Fairpark and Poplar Grove Park. As we work to make pickleball accessible to residents across various neighborhoods, the city will add at least 14 new courts, placing six or more in Glendale Regional Park, and eight or more in Rosewood Park in 2025.
