Liberty Park Rotary Play Park Construction Progress Update

The updated Liberty Rotary Play Park is being designed as a destination that offers diverse learning and play experiences for people of all abilities. With a strong focus on accessibility, the design blends playful, inclusive features that encourage exploration and connection.

Construction continues to make exciting progress. Since work began last September, crews have removed the old playground, reshaped the site for new play areas and pathways, installed new walkways and key foundations, and completed most of the underground utility work.

Currently, the team is continuing walkway and concrete work, preparing and pouring concrete in the splash pad areas, finalizing grading to shape play and gathering spaces, and coordinating delivery of upcoming playground equipment.

This spring, construction will shift to more visible installations, including playground equipment, landscaping, irrigation, and safety surfacing. As these elements are added, the park’s final vision will begin to take shape. The project will go through the summer.

The renovation of the Rotary Play Park has been intentional and forward-thinking, introducing new accessibility features not yet seen in other city parks. Planned features include:
- A custom climbing tower
- Group pendulum swing
- Wheelchair-accessible spin carousel
- Splash zone
- Sand tables
- Cornhole and ping pong
- An outdoor classroom
- Swings and slides
- Shaded seating and picnic areas
- Natural play spaces
- Adaptive interpretive features for individuals with vision, hearing, and communication differences
- Inclusive equipment that supports shared and independent play.
When complete, the Liberty Rotary Play Park will provide a welcoming, accessible space for the entire community. Thank you for your continued support as this exciting new park comes to life.
