A Simple Before-After Crash Study was performed for 1300 South between State Street and 700 East. four years of before project crash data was compared to four years of after project crash data. The construction period for the project was August 2013 – September 2013. Crashes that occurred during the construction period are not included in the analysis since they likely do not represent typical roadway conditions.

In summary, the average numbers of crashes for the four years after the project were 27% lower as compared to the average number of crashes for the four years before the project.

“Year -2” = August 1, 2011 – July 31, 2012
“Year -1” = August 1, 2012 – July 31, 2013

“Year +2” = October 1, 2014 – September 30, 2015
“Year +3” = October 1, 2015 – September 30, 2016
“Year +4” = October 1, 2016 – September 30, 2017
