Adopt-a-Crosswalk Program
The Adopt-a-Crosswalk program helps improve safety for people walking by increasing visibility at marked crosswalks. Bright orange flags are placed in containers at each end of the crosswalk, allowing pedestrians to wave a flag while crossing to be more visible to drivers.
Outside of Salt Lake City’s Downtown Central Business District, individuals, businesses, and community groups can adopt a crosswalk by keeping the flag stations stocked. In return, the City provides and installs the flag holders and an initial set of flags for free.
How It Works
- The City installs the flag holders (“quivers”), signs, and provides an initial set of flags—at no cost to you.
- As a sponsor, you agree to regularly check the crosswalk and replace missing flags as needed.
- Replacement flags cost $2.10 each and can be purchased by card, check, or online.
