What is the Hive Pass?

The Hive Pass is a discounted UTA transit pass available to all Salt Lake City residents with the goal of making transit more affordable and accessible. Your home address must be within Salt Lake City boundaries to be eligible for a Hive Pass.

The pass costs $42.00 per month, a 75% discount from a regular monthly UTA pass. You may pre-purchase for an entire year for $475. That’s an additional $29 discount!

You can use the Hive Pass on UTA local bus service, TRAX, the S-Line streetcar, UTA On Demand, and FrontRunner. Hive Passes also include a free one-year GREENbike membership!

Who is eligible?

You must live within the Salt Lake City boundaries shown on the map below to purchase a Hive Pass. Download the eligibility map.

How it Works

The Hive Pass is a monthly pass that activates on the first day of the month for which it is purchased. While you can purchase the pass at any time, you will always pay for the full calendar month. To make the most of your pass, purchase at or near the first of the month. You may also pre-purchase for the next month and your Hive Pass will activate on the first day of the upcoming month. For example, if you purchase a Hive Pass on October 15th, the pass can be activated for the remainder of October, but the price for October 15th-31st will still be $42. You could also choose to have the pass stay inactive until November 1st, at which point the price for November will be $42.

Please call 801-535-6630 or email RideWithHive@slc.gov if you have questions about the Hive Pass program, or call 801-483-6900 if you are having technical registration issues.

If possible, please apply for the Hive Pass online.
