Statement on Allegations Involving Council Member Lopez Chavez
SALT LAKE CITY, April 22, 2026 – We understand that multiple individuals have come forward with allegations that Council Member Lopez Chavez engaged in conduct that may constitute sexual harassment.
The Salt Lake City Council takes these allegations very seriously. We have a responsibility to uphold a safe, respectful, and accountable environment, and we stand unequivocally against all forms of harassment and misconduct.
We are actively reviewing the information available to us and are committed to ensuring that this matter is addressed with the urgency and care it requires.
As additional information becomes available, the Council will take all actions within our authority that are necessary to uphold our standards, ensure a professional and harassment-free workplace, and maintain public trust.
We remain committed to serving the City’s interests and the values our residents expect to see in our elected officials.
