Northpoint Annexation
The Council is considering annexing land from Salt Lake County into Salt Lake City.
This property lies in the Northpoint area along 2200 West. If approved, the property would become a part of Salt Lake City, making the city boundary more unified. Additionally, the annexation would bring more property tax to Salt Lake City. Yet, it will also increase city service costs, such as police and fire costs.
The Council approved the first step to initiate the annexation process. The decision to annex the property will come back to the Council to consider at a later date. At that time, if the Council decides to annex the land, it will also designate its zoning district.
If the Council decides to annex the land into Salt Lake City, the area will be within the Northpoint Small Area Plan, which the Council approved in 2023.
Next Steps
The Council may consider voting to annex the land at a future meeting (date to be determined). Stay tuned here for updates.
