Food Waste
If you want to help your budget, reducing food waste is a good way to go. According to federally funded research published in 2020, the average household wastes 31.9% of their grocery purchases.
And if you care about climate change – reducing food waste is one of the best ways to help. Food loss and food waste accounts for 8-10% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions and households are the biggest producers. Put another way, if food waste were a country, it would be the third largest greenhouse gas emitter behind China and the United States.
