Food Waste
Reducing food waste can make a big difference to your budget and the planet.
According to federally funded research published in 2020, the average household wastes 31.9% of their grocery purchases.
And if you care about climate change – reducing food waste is one of the best ways to help. Food loss and food waste account for 8-10% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions– and households are the biggest producers. Put another way, if food waste were a country, it would be the third largest greenhouse gas emitter behind China and the United States.
