YouthCity Leadership Council Service Projects
Help us create 400 Personal Hygiene Kits!
Project details:
YouthCity, Salt Lake City’s Afterschool and Summer program, is hosting a Hygiene Kit Donation Drive! YouthCity kids hope to collect four hundred toothbrushes, toothpaste tubes, shampoo, bar soap, deodorants, combs and hair brushes and small hand towels to create 400 Hygiene Kits. All items must be new and commercially produced. Completed kits will be donated to local Salt Lake City refugee families and delivered to families in the Ukraine via a shipment provided by Lifting Hands International (www.lhi.org).
This hygiene kit drive is part of our peer leadership program, The YouthCity Leadership Council (YCLC). This program is designed to help teach leadership skills and develop a network of service minded youth. Fourteen school-age youth have been elected to represent each YouthCity location and neighborhood. YCLC’s help program staff plan Difference Makers Service Club’ projects each year.
The YouthCity Difference Makers Service Club provides all participants an opportunity to actively engage in supporting, encouraging an improving our community through hands on service projects.
The fall 2023, project is designed to gather personal hygiene items that will be assembled into kits and distributed to families in need throughout our community and world. Please donate items starting October 9-Oct 31. YouthCity kiddos will gather on Friday, Nov 3 to assemble the hygiene kits and engage in supplemental service projects.
