District 4 Vacancy Updates
The Council approved a resolution outlining the steps for selecting a District Four representative through a fair and transparent process. Candidates will be interviewed on Tues., June 9, and selected that night, or no later than Thurs., June 11, if necessary.

Council Continues to Seek Feedback from Public
The Council hosted their second public hearing on the FY27 budget during their formal meeting. The Council is scheduled to take final action mid-June and appreciates the public’s input on items that matter to you. The Council was additionally briefed on the following budget items during the work session:
- Office of the City Attorney
- Insurance and Risk Management
- Sustainability Department, including the Waste & Recycling collection, which includes a fee increase.
- Governmental Immunity
- Public Utilities changes to the Consolidated Fee Schedule
- Unresolved issues follow-up
Public Hearings Held
The Council provided public input opportunities for the following items:
- Budget amendment No. 5, which includes funding for new police officers, replacement of aging police patrol vehicles, the purchase of a transport van, and more.
- The compensation adjustment for elected and statutory officers and executive municipal officers, as well as all other ordinances necessary to implement the FY27 budget.
- A series of grant applications.
Briefings
The Council was briefed on the following items during the work session:
- Potential amendments to city code regarding artificial turf. The Council asked for additional input and review of the proposal. (Watch)
- Amendments to align with changes in state law that limit the types of regulations cities can impose on mobile businesses. (Watch)
- Key changes to the Opportunity Zone Program, which is an economically-distressed community where new investments may be eligible for preferential tax treatment. (Watch)

Community Engagement Updates:
Salt Lake City believes public input is essential to making the right decisions for our city. Visit the City’s website for a list of projects currently collecting feedback.
Avenues Community Plan (District 3)
- In-person engagement Memory Grove on Wed., June 17.
- Second public hearing at Planning Commission in July. Stay tuned for more information when that agenda is released.
Homelessness Update:
Homeless Resource Centers saw a full occupancy rate during May.
The City’s next Homeless Resource Fair will be held June 12 at Library Square and the next Justice Court will be Workforce Services Fri., June 5 at 9 a.m.

Next Council Meeting
Tuesday, June 9
The Council meets as the Community Reinvestment Agency (C.R.A.) at 12:30 p.m., and the Council’s work session begins following the C.R.A. meeting and ends at approximately 6:30 p.m. The formal meeting begins at 7 p.m. and ends upon the conclusion of items listed on the agenda.
Note: 200 East between 400 and 500 South will be closed June 1 through 10 for the 2026 Utah Pride Festival. If you are attending the meeting in person, please use the City Library parking garage and request a parking validation from Council staff. The garage can be accessed from 400 or 500 S between 200 and 300 East. ADA parking is available along 500 S, south of the City & County Building.
