Ordinance: Rezone at 2333 West North Temple Street
On April 5, 2022, the Council voted to approve a request from Mayor Mendenhall to remove 2333 West North Temple from the Airport Flight Path Protection Influence Zone A. The purpose of this influence zone is to prohibit residential uses in areas near the airport exposed to high levels of noise. While hotels and motels are allowed within this zone, residential use (stays greater than 30 days) is not.
The removal of this property from this influence zone allows the current building, the Airport Inn, to operate as an extended-stay hotel. Currently, the Airport Inn is being used as a hotel for people transitioning out of homelessness.
The nonprofit will now be able to operate the Airport Inn as multi-family housing, offer on-site social services that benefit residents of the facility, and accept housing vouchers.
