Utah Parent-Teacher Association’s Centennial Anniversary

The Council joined Mayor Mendenhall to recognize the Utah Parent Teacher Association’s Centennial Anniversary.
Votes & Public Hearings
The Council approved the following items after holding a public hearing during the formal session:
- Updates to Parking Dimensions and Off-Street Parking Standards.
- Adopting several environmental plans, including:
- The Water Conservation and Land Use Planning Plan
- The 2025 Water Conservation Plan, which establishes 5-, 10-, and 40-year goals.
Briefings
The Council was briefed on the following items during the work session:
- Proposed updates to household occupancy definitions. The Council supported expanding the definition of the number of people living as a single household unit, which is related to ensuring more affordable units. (Watch)
- The Sky Harbour hangar development at the Salt Lake City International Airport. The development would include an aircraft storage facility that would provide community benefits, such as high-paying jobs and internships, as well as environmentally focused construction. The project would be funded through a tax-exempt private activity bond, which allows private developers to use the City’s favorable bonding rates. The process includes a TEFRA (Tax Equity and Fiscal Responsibility Act) public hearing on Tues., Dec. 9. (Watch)
- The proposed budget for the Salt Lake Valley Solid Waste Management Facility. Following their public comment period, the County Council is expected to adopt their final budget in early December and the new rates will go into effect. For more information visit their site. (Watch)
- Steps to develop the Saltair Lofts, a 68-unit housing project where all units would be reserved as affordable permanent supportive housing for formerly homeless individuals. A hearing will be held on Tues., Dec. 9. (Watch)
- Budget Amendment No.3, which includes grant funding for license plate reader cameras, cleanup of the Jordan River and funds toward public safety in areas surrounding shelters. (Watch)
- Proposed updates to the zoning map and rules for Multifamily Residential 35 and 45 zoning districts. The proposed updates are intended to encourage a wider variety of housing while also preserving existing units. Following straw polls during tonight’s briefing, the Council will take action at a future meeting. (Watch)
Next Meeting
The Council meets as the Community Reinvestment Agency (CRA) at 2 p.m. and the Council’s work session begins following the CRA meeting and ends at approximately 5:30 p.m. The formal meeting begins at 7 p.m. and ends upon the conclusion of items listed on the agenda.
