February 3, 2026 Meeting Recap

Meeting Highlights

Salt Lake City Public Library’s Collective Bargaining Agreement

The Council unanimously approved the collective bargaining agreement for Salt Lake City Public Library. The terms of the agreement, based on the employees’ negotiations, including wage increases and benefits, are projected without requiring a tax increase.

“In this historic moment, we proudly make clear where the Salt Lake City Council stands on collective bargaining,” said Council Chair Alejandro “Ale” Puy. “Strong unions help create stable jobs, better services and a workforce that can stay and grow in our city. Supporting workers is not just the right thing to do—it’s good for Salt Lake City’s long-term success.”

Budget Amendment No. 4

The Council received a briefing and accepted public comment on Budget Amendment No. 4, which includes funding for a mobile command center for the Police Department, additional training, staffing, and equipment for the Fire Department, and updated parking signs throughout the City.

Black History Month

Local members of the NAACP chapter joined the Council and Mayor Mendenhall in recognizing February as Black History Month in Salt Lake City.

Other Highlights
