Salt Lake City to Hold Hearings for Truth in Taxation & Capital Improvement Program

The Council invites the public to participate in the hybrid hearings and stay informed on City business.

SALT LAKE CITY, Aug. 12, 2024 – The Salt Lake City Council will hold a Truth in Taxation hearing on Tuesday, Aug. 13, at 7 p.m., as required by Utah law. This hearing, triggered by property tax changes for the City’s General Fund and the City Library, allows residents to learn about and comment on these changes.

On the same night, the public can also provide feedback on Capital Improvement Program (CIP) projects before the Council decides which requests will receive funding for Fiscal Year 2024-25 (FY25). CIP funds projects that improve public property, such as streets, sidewalks, and parks.

The Council’s formal meeting will be held at 6 p.m. to accommodate the 7 p.m. Truth in Taxation hearing. If the Council cannot finish the formal meeting by 7 p.m., the meeting will resume after the Truth in Taxation hearing concludes.
