What’s Not Accepted by Call 2 Haul

Call 2 Haul is NOT a pile program!

Rather, it’s a way to schedule disposal of large, bulky items, sustainably.

Prohibited items

Here is a list of items that Call 2 Haul won’t pick up. Note that some items on this list qualify for pickup but require special set-out procedures.

Dirt, sod, rocks, concrete, or asphalt

  • No amount of these materials will be picked up by Call 2 Haul

Tree branches, stumps and/or trees

  • Tree branches must be cut to no longer than 5 feet in length to fit into our compactor. 
  • Please bundle if possible. It is important to keep loose debris off the street and out of the gutters.
  • Trees or stumps over 12 inches in diameter are not permitted. (Hire a private hauler for larger wood.)

Loose green waste

  • Please use your brown compost cart for loose green waste like leaves or small branches.
  • Don’t rake or blow loose green waste such as leaves and grass into the street. It can clog storm drains. If you have a large volume of loose green waste, please request extra compost. containers (available for free with City waste collection services, in addition to your annual Call 2 Haul collection).

Construction material

  • This includes drywall, plaster, fencing, trim and lumber longer than 5 feet, flooring, and other construction material.
  • Private haulers should be contacted for construction/demolition debris or large clean-out projects.

Household hazardous waste

Paints, pesticides, oil, fluorescent lights, and other chemicals are not permitted through Call 2 Haul.

Flammable or explosive material

Call 2 Haul will not pick up aerosol cans, gas cans, propane tanks, etc.

Call your local fire station for disposal information, or call the Salt Lake County Health Department at (385) 468-3862.

We will take this material but you must follow included instructions

Loose items

  • Loose, small items won’t be picked up unless they’re bagged or boxed.

Broken Glass

  • If you put out glass, make sure its in a container to prevent breakage. Also, please notify Call 2 Haul if you set out glass to ensure worker safety.
