130 North 2100 West Rezone

On Feb. 21, 2023, the Council voted to approve a request to remove property at 130 North 2100 West from the Airport Flight Path Protection Overlay District. Removing the property from the overlay district allows the property owner, Friends of Switchpoint, to remodel a hotel into a 94-unit apartment building.

Friends of Switchpoint intends to rent the 94 units to older individuals transitioning out of homelessness. The building would include community amenities, on-site case management offices for its residents, and would be able to accept housing vouchers.

The purpose of this overlay district is to prohibit residential buildings in areas near the airport because of the high levels of noise. Hotels and motels are allowed within this overlay district, but residential buildings (stays greater than 30 days) are not.
