City Council Kicks Off FY2023-24 Budget Process, Seeks Public Participation

– – – –

The Salt Lake City Council received Mayor Erin Mendenhall’s recommended budget for Fiscal Year 2023-24, marking the start of the budget review process. The Council will meet weekly to review and fine-tune the budget before adoption in June. City residents are encouraged to participate in the process by telling the Council what City services and projects they believe are most important.

“The City budget is more than just numbers and figures – it’s about the people of Salt Lake City,” said Salt Lake City Council Chair Darin Mano.  “We encourage all residents to participate in our budget process however you can. Your input is critical to creating a budget that serves the needs of all Salt Lake City Residents.”

The public will have the opportunity to provide input in person or online (via Zoom) during our two budget public hearing dates:

  • May 16, 2023, at 7 p.m.
  • June 6, 2023, at 7 p.m.

Those unable to attend a public hearing are encouraged to provide feedback online, via our 24-hour Comment Line (801-535-7654) or via email (council.comments@slcgov.com).

The City Council understands the importance of transparency in local government and is committed to keeping the public involved in the budget process. Residents can learn more about the budget process at tinyURL.com/SLCFY24.
