Chapman Library

The Chapman Library is the only local or national historic site in District 2, but it is a unique one. It is Salt Lake City’s only Carnegie library—a library built with funding from the Carnegie Foundation. It is one of only ten such buildings still used as a library and it is listed on both the local and National Register of Historic Places. The structure was finished in 1918 and named after Annie E. Chapman, the first librarian of the Salt Lake City Public Library System. The library’s architect, Don Carlos Young, also designed the University of Utah campus.
