About Popperton

Popperton trails include beginner biking trails (a climbing trail, two descending trails, and a very mellow lower trail on the south side of the road). Popperton is also home to easy hiking trails and a trailhead to access other Foothills trails.

Popperton Nature Park is adjacent to Popperton Park.


Have a Great Ride

  • Popperton Nature Park bike trails are intended to help new riders learn features like rollers, switchbacks, and berms.
  • Electronic dirt bikes and other e-toys are not allowed.

Have a Great Hike

  • Popperton offers several walking/hiking trails perfect for beginner hikers and those who want to enjoy great views of the city.
  • These trails also make great connections between other Foothills system trails.

Access to Nearby Trails

From the Popperton trailhead, bike or hike to Dry Creek Trail or Tomahawk Trail, which provide access to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail and the rest of the Foothills trail system.

Dogs at Popperton

For the safety and care of wildlife and other park visitors, dogs must be leashed at all times at Popperton Park and open space. Popperton is home to wildlife such as birds, coyotes, and others. Click below for a list of local off-leash dog parks.
