Important Notes
- To begin the application process, apply for the Demolition permit online at the Citizen Access Portal. This application type is only for complete demolitions of primary structures.
- The assigned BLD# will be required to obtain inspections and agency approvals. After the permit has been applied for, fill out this form and upload it to ProjectDox along with any other agency approvals. Then complete the applicant upload task to initiate the review process.
- Public Utilities, Urban Forestry, Planning, and Transportation approvals will all be reviewed via ProjectDox.
- However, DAQ, Salt Lake County Health Department, and Waste Management approvals will be separate. Please contact each of these divisions to complete their approvals. Once the approvals have been received, please upload the approved forms to ProjectDox.
- If the property is located in a Local Historic District, a certificate of appropriateness must be issued prior to the demolition permit by the Planning Division (801) 535-7700.
Demolition Approval Process
Commercial Demolition
Apply for a Commercial Demolition online permit through the Citizen Access Portal, from there the applicant should be guided to upload the demolition documents to ProjectDox. After the demo forms have been uploaded, make sure to complete the ‘applicant upload’ task for the review to begin.
All of the approvals listed on the first page will be required before the city can issue the demo permit.
Residential Demolition
Apply for a Residential Demolition permit through the Citizen Access Portal, from there the applicant should be guided to upload the demolition documents to ProjectDox.
If the structure contains one or more dwelling units, fill out the Residential Demolition Verification Form in addition to this form.
Additional Information
- Average review cycle response time is 5 business days.
- Demolition permit fees are based off of the square footage with a minimum fee of $215.
