Westside Neighborhoods Transportation Projects

20 MPH Local Streets Initiative

In June 2022, the Salt Lake City Council adopted an ordinance lowering the local speed limit. The ordinance impacted approximately 420 miles or 70% of the City’s public streets. Replacing the approximately 575 signs from 25 to 20 miles per hour continued into August 2022.

1700 South: 1700 East to 1900 East Lane Striping

Several years ago, 1700 South, between 1700 East and 1900 East, was reconstructed in concrete. Salt Lake City did not replace any of the painted lines at that time. This summer, Salt Lake City will be adding striping to the street in a new configuration that adds east and westbound bike lanes.

500 North Traffic Calming

Stay Safe, Stay Active Streets: Response to COVID-19

In late April 2020, in response to physical distancing needs related to COVID-19, Salt Lake City began opening certain streets for community recreation. The implementation followed a week-long online survey in which the City received over 6,200 responses regarding which streets the public would like to see opened for recreation. 600 East Bike Lanes (200 S to 400 S)

Bike lanes were striped on 600 East from 200 South to 400 South in the fall of 2019, while keeping all travel lanes, and keeping parking on all blocks.

Folsom Trail Project

More than 10 years in the making, the Folsom Trail will help bridge east-west connections in Salt Lake City. This 10 foot wide path was designed to be safe for all ages and all abilities – to walk, bike, and more. This is a vital connector for our neighborhoods and our businesses.

Pop-up Designs
