This Fall/Winter 2024, Salt Lake City Department of Public Utilities will be rehabilitating the Bonneville Blvd Water line. The Bonneville Blvd Water line is an existing 12-inch cast iron pipe (CIP) located near the mouth of City Creek Canyon that runs down a steep hillside, then back up on the other side. The existing water line is aging and requires rehabilitation as it is an important transmission line and provides several main line connections.
SLCDPU and its contractor will rehabilitate the waterline with a trenchless method installing a flexible fiber reinforced pipe liner, extending the water line’s lifespan and reducing the impact to the public.
Anticipated Impacts:
- Excavation pits and construction equipment at existing manholes at approximately the intersection of 700 N and Capitol Blvd and the intersection of Red Brick Ct and Capitol Park Ave.
- Construction equipment staging and fencing around excavation pits
- Temporary traffic restrictions to accommodate construction activities
- Temporary restricted access to driveways and roads
- Temporary increases in noise, dust, and vibration
- Areas disrupted by construction will be fully restored
