Project Overview
Salt Lake Department of Public Utilities (SLCDPU) is installing a new sewer main and lift station on Genesee Avenue from 700 West and 800 West. This project will move sewer flows from a near-full sewer main to a larger sewer trunk line. The installation of this line, spanning only one city block, will allow several blocks of existing sewer main to continue meeting sewer needs without intrusive and expensive capacity upgrades.
Construction Impacts
This project will be accomplished through open-trench installation. During the project nearby residents can expect interruptions to typical traffic flow in addition to construction noise and dust. Normal construction hours will be Monday through Friday from 7 am to 5 pm. Residents and businesses will be notified prior to construction and updated as closures and traffic patterns change.
This project does not involve work on existing sewer services, and all sewer service will remain active during the project.
Project Timeline
Construction is expected to begin Summer 2026.
